Russian nanotechnology may help Uzbek oil producers

The Infrafund of Rusnano, Russia’s largest nanotech company, is in talks with Uzbekneftegaz, the largest oil producer in Uzbekistan, a neighboring country in Central Asia. The Uzbekneftegaz management is considering adopting some of Russia’s nanotechnology solutions in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector, the Rusnano website .

The Central Asian partner is particularly keen on studying options in the fields of environmental and industrial safety, energy saving and energy efficiency, and other areas, Rusnano said. Special attention has been given to solutions that have already proved successful in the Russian oil and gas sector, including units that generate technical gases from the air and reclaim flare gas, water purification systems for oil refineries, and other products.
