18ÊJunÊ'15
A street lighting upgrade project has been launched in the southern Russian city of Novorossiisk, in the Krasnodar region, RBC-Kuban . Experts believe the replacement of conventional lamps for LED ones will help the city save considerably on electrical energy.

It’s Optogan, a leading Russian LED developer and portfolio company of national nanotech giant Rusnano, that is behind the effort. So far, lamps have been replaced on one pilot street only. Overall, Novorossiisk wants to replace lamps on 15,000 lighting posts, covering the lion’s share of the city territory. An estimated $6.7m has been reportedly allocated from regional coffers to innovate the street lighting system.
