In Tatarstan, nanominerals to boost crops and step up cattle growth

3 Jul '14
Scientists in Tatarstan, in the mid-Volga area, have come up with special nanodimensional agri-minerals that are believed to help boost crop yield and cattle growth, regional portal Intertat.ru .

The 5-to-95-nanometer agri-minerals created at the Tatarstan Research Institute of Agrochemistry and Soil Studies can increase the vitamin value of corn leaves by a considerable 30% and add another 18% to buckwheat crop yield, according to Dr. Assia Ezhkova of the Institute.

“In growing cucumbers and tomatoes, nanodimensional phosphoride flour that we have obtained boosts yield by 20% and 19.5%, respectively. In addition, tomatoes have their beta-carotene content augmented as a result of using the flour,” Ms. Ezhkova said.

Institute researchers have also developed fodder additives that “positively impact the growth of agricultural animals and poultry,” she added.
