Urals and Chinese province shake hands on joint additive tech

The Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg keeps up its focus on additive technologies and has recently inked a collaboration agreement with sizable research and business partners in China. the UrFU website, the Russian university is now working together with Xinda, a Chinese company, and the Institute of High Technology in the northeast Chinese province of Heilongjiang.

Under terms of the agreement with Xinda, the partners will collaborate in joint research programs and engineering development, as well as in exchange programs for specialists and students.

In their joint fundamental research, the two are expected to focus on improvements in polymer compositions for a variety of end products and in the properties of secondary polymers, and also on joint new materials study. The partners will be looking into novel 3D technologies. Joint support of innovation activity, including patenting and tech transfer, is also in focus.

In its cooperation with Heilongjiang’s Institute of High Technology, UrFU has plans to set up a joint Russo-Chinese 3D printing lab to make 3D-printed products from metals and polymers, and also to develop advanced equipment for additive technologies. The researchers will be looking into technologies to produce stuff made of aluminum, steel, refractory alloys, titanium, bronze, polyamide, polystyrene, as well as a range of metallic, ceramic and plastic materials.
